The mission of the Salem Vegan Society is to promote veganism.
The current practice of factory farming, which raises billions of farm animals for food production in the United States and around the world, places animals such as pigs, cows and chickens in overcrowded, unsanitary living conditions.

The need for a 100-percent Vegan Food Drive is obvious to most vegans today. To vegans -
most of whom care not only for animals, but tend to extend compassion to all living things, including our environment - our charity for others must be vegan also. Sadly, millions of animals are still caged, crated, chained, overcrowded, and abused in countless other ways every day. Therefore the Salem Vegan Food Drive ensures that your non-perishable, vegan food donations provide compassion not only to the homeless at the Salem Mission, but to countless animals.

Vegan means that no animals or animal products were used in
the production or manufacturing of a food product. So foods like canned beans and vegetables, cookies, crackers, pasta and other
foods may be donated, but only if they contain no animal products.

The Salem Mission will use your donations to prepare meals for the homeless individuals temporarily housed at the Mission. For more information, visit the Salem Mission website or contact Jennifer Pieroni at the Salem Mission. Phone Jennifer at 978.444.0500 or email her at j.pieroni@salemmission.org

Donate securely online at Facebook, via their Network for Good donation page application, and be automatically entered into our 2009 Salem Vegan Food Drive Raffle! See prizes above. The Mission has agreed to purchase vegan food in the amount donated for this event. Thanks and Good Luck!
