Salem Vegan Food
Drive 2008
This
June marks the Salem Vegan Food Drive's third year.
While 2006 showed only marginal interest in the
community, 2007 marked a dramatic increase in both
Sponsorship and in donations from individuals in the
community. We provided the Salem Mission with over
$500 to purchase 100-percent vegan food for their
homeless residents and needy families in the region.
This year, vegan businesses have embraced the Food
Drive, recognizing its unparalleled, inherent value
for the vegan community, and for animal rights. This
year's recession has undoubtedly struck hard in the
region, but as always, we remain optimists, with our
vision toward the future.

National Wildlife Federation (NWF)
NWF's Mission
statement states, simply, "NWF inspires Americans to protect
wildlife for our children's future." These days, as we all know,
that is a much more ambitious statement than it may appear at
first. NWF's site lists the animals that need the most
attention, and suggests "activities" that ordinary folks, like
you and me, can participate in to assist them. NWF then goes a
step further, and asks us to do even more. Not bad a bad idea.

Boston in 2003, the mission of Fitness Fudge is "to provide great
tasting, all natural energy foods to those who are dedicated to
living a healthy and fit lifestyle." Being fit is

has recently added a second "low carb" vegan version,
sweetened with rice syrup. There are also FF T-shirts and coffee
mugs. Their vegan fudge is available at Sophie's Sweet Shop, 230 Essex Street in Salem, and
online. |

Food Fight! Vegan
Grocery
FF staff members, Emiko and Chad, write on their Web site:
"We're trying our best at this online sales thing, so give us a
break." Okay, they've got a break. Among a currently elite
'society' of online (not to mention bricks-and-mortar) vegan
stores, Food Fight! has what it takes to succeed: What every
vegan, and every body, needs. Two thumbs up. xoxo |
